
Nicholas Karides was born in Britain, went to school in Cyprus and studied at Pennsylvania State University, Middlesex Polytechnic and the London School of Journalism.
He worked as a journalist in London and later served at the Delegation of the European Commission in Nicosia. He resigned from the Commission when Cyprus joined the EU and set up Ampersand Public Affairs.
He was among the founders and contributing editors of the news outlet Offsite and is the author of Knowing One’s Place (2017), a collection of essays on journalism, history and football.
Since January 2022 he is the director of IMME, the Institute for Mass Media, at the Universitas Foundation.
He is a member of the team drafting the annual Media Pluralism Monitor on Cyprus for the European University Institute.
